AS WE TRANSITION from summer to fall and winter seasons, we want to thank Kim, Annette, Chad, and the entire Recreation Commission,  for their help in producing the Grosse Ile Profile. And the entire community for their support of our efforts.

Our new issue features a photo-essay on the 2018 Grosse Ile Homecoming. We always enjoy joining in with the festivities, especially now with the Grosse Ile DDA, Rec. Dept., Rotary Club, and Macomb Street businesses, hosting their annual Paint the Town Red festivities that add to staples such as the Homecoming Parade and of course the Red Devils’ Homecoming football game.

One of our favorite Homecoming traditions is visiting with friends at an alumni tailgate hosted by the Bagardi family (see photo below). It’s one of many annual traditions that make this weekend so unique and special.

We also feature the dynamic Father-Daughter duo, Warren and Bridget Hurst. Warren has been serving Grosse Ile resident with their dock and seawall needs for 45 years. Bridget is now a vital part of the business, serves on the Grosse Ile Islandfest Commission, and yes, is an avid boater too!

Watch for our next issue that will feature the Rec. Dept.’s Winter/Spring schedule.
