Co-owner of Grosse Ile Lawn Sprinkler & Fertilizing Doug Furtah and his team are busiest early Spring each year because that’s when they recommend preparation of lawns to prevent crabgrass or weeds best. And to determine the best time to start fertilizing lawns, Furtah consults Michigan State University’s ground temperature map.

Furtah and his team take great care to make sure every yard they work on is correctly taken care of, including an inspection the day of to look for trouble areas or wet spots. Prior to using machinery, granular fertilizer is laid or spreader, along with a weedkiller, which is done in a specific pattern for each individual yard.
